Singapore shares end lower ahead of China data
SINGAPORE - Singapore share prices fell 0.4% on Thursday, as investors await China growth figures due out on Friday which could introduce volatility into share markets.
The blue-chip Straits Times Index (STI) ended 13.40 points lower at 3,195.10.
In the broader market, 4.8 billion shares changed hands. Losers outnumbered gainers 245 to 215.
Commodities stocks were among the losers, with Golden Agri-Resources retreating 3.1% to S$0.62 while Wilmar International fell 2.2% to S$3.64.
Property stocks made a modest comeback after tumbling in recent days on new property curbs from the Singapore government. CapitaLand closed 1.6% higher at S$3.86 while City Developments clawed back 0.5% to finish at S$11.55.
