Dubai Quality Group, American Society for Quality organise Quality ...

The two-day meet, which embodied a broad and complex vision for excellence and innovation, kicked off on Monday, November 26 with a set of objectives, programmes and qualitative activities, which fell under the World Quality Month campaign.

The aim of the campaign was to strengthen the position of DQG as a specialised Group, which supports, sponsors and motivates quality, excellence and innovation locally, regionally and even globally.

The opening session started with the address by Saleh Janeeh, Chairman, DQG, followed by another opening address by John Fowler, Managing Director, ASQ Global, and a keynote address by chief guest Dr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Banna, CEO, Dubarch.

The Conference embraced a number of specialised presentations to best practices, diversified panel discussions, in addition to networking sessions, benchmarking and working papers, including a keynote presentation about "Producing Transformative Results In Organizations", by Stephen Hacker, Founding Partner and CEO of Transformation Systems International LLC and Chair of ASQ Global Advisory Council.

A paper about "Delivering Outstanding e-Services to the Public" was delivered by Ahmed H. Bahrozyan, CEO, Licensing Agency, Roads & Transport Authority, and a presentation was given by Dino Varkey, Group Executive Director and Board Member, GEMS Education, about "Effective Management Strategies that Drive Education Quality".

Scott A. Rutherford, Instructor/Master Black Belt, NAVSEA Lean Six Sigma College, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, US Navy, spoke about "The Next Change Management Strategy - Avoiding the Flavour of the Month Syndrome".

Dr. Rajini Ashok, Director of Quality, Zulekha Group, gave a presentation about "Clinical Privileging", and Steven Bailey, Principal Consultant, Corporate Applied Statistics Group (ASG), DuPont Engineering Research &Technology (DuET), DuPont, shared about "Improving DuPont Businesses through Quality".

The second day of the event witnessed many other presentations, particularly by Ron Atkinson, Assistant Director of Quality, National Oilwell Varco, who shared about "Excellence in the Oil and Gas Industry", and Elizabeth Keim, Managing Partner, Integrated Quality Resources in Boulder, CO, USA, who explained "How To Use Lean Thinking in Service Industries".

Commenting on this important event, Saleh Janeeh, Chairman, DQG, said, "The Quality and Business Excellence Conference this year, is another image of excellence and a qualitative celebration offered by DQG on the occasion of the World Quality Month."

Janeeh confirmed that through this conference, DQG is keen to continue the approach of excellence and innovation in various fields.

He added, "The Dubai Quality Group seeks to be recognised internationally as a hub of knowledge that promotes excellence in business and competitiveness to the business community. In this context, DQG's vision reflects in achieving these goals and more. The Group also provides various tools to its members that return benefits, interest, experience and excellence to the wider community."

Saleh Janeeh expressed thanks and gratitude to the Honorary Patron of the Group, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman of Emirates Airline, for his support and motivation.

He also thanked colleagues, partners and innovators at the American Society for Quality, in addition to the sponsors and speakers who were the active and influential factors in the success of this event.
